SERRA DO LOPO

A crossing between the city of Vargem (SP), starting from the Guaraiuva neighborhood, climbing the Serra do Lopo and arriving in the city of Extrema (MG) via the Pinheirinho Trail through the Serra da Forja. Up to Pedra da Sacerdotisa, this trail is part of the Transmantiqueira route. The highest point between São Paulo and Minas Gerais, at 1,700m altitude. Challenging trails with spectacular views on the border of the states. Ideal for mountaineering and trekking.

Historical Description

The Serra do Lopo is an ancient geological formation that marks the border between São Paulo and Minas Gerais. It has been used for centuries as a geographical reference point and, more recently, has become a landmark for adventure sports and ecotourism in the region.

Cultural Description

The mountain range is frequented by communities of extreme sports enthusiasts, especially paragliders and hang gliders who use the natural free-flight ramps. The area also attracts mountaineering and hiking groups from various regions of the state.
