
José Antônio de Oliveira Preto (Zé Meano) is considered the founder of Pedra Bela, having erected the cross on February 24, 1869, and collaborated in the construction of the Santa Cruz Chapel. The original settlement was called Santa Cruz do Feital. In 1929 it became a District of Peace of Pedra Grande, and in 1944 the name was changed to Pedra Bela. Emancipation occurred in January 1964.
Adventure tourism and religious tourism. The Mega Zip Line, paragliding at the Arara dos Binos Ramp, rock climbing and rappelling at Pedra do Santuário are the main attractions. The city offers ATV tours, 23 km of tricycle trails, and the pilgrimage to the Sanctuary on the day of Our Lady of Aparecida.
Take the Fernão Dias Highway (BR-381) to Bragança Paulista, then follow the Capitão Barduino Highway, passing through Pinhalzinho to Pedra Bela. Approximate travel time: 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours.
