

The Atibainha River Reservoir is a reservoir formed by the dam of the same name, built in 1975 on the Atibainha River, a tributary of the Atibaia River. Standing 29 meters high, the reservoir covers an area of 1,557.65 hectares and has a capacity of 290.78 million cubic meters of water. In Nazaré Paulista, the area between the Mantiqueira and Cantareira mountain ranges offers two natural beaches: Lava Pés in the city center and another in the Itinga neighborhood. The reservoir is part of the Cantareira System, responsible for supplying water to the metropolitan region of São Paulo.
